Author/illustrator Peter Brown visited my school on August 30! My students love Peter Brown's books! The Curious Garden was on the Georgia Children's Book Award list last year, and the kids loved the story and the detailed illustrations.
As soon as his visit was confirmed, I invited each class in kindergarten through third grade to visit the media center for a Peter Brown storytime. We read Chowder, Children Make Terrible Pets, and You Will Be My Friend. All of the kids loved these books, but our second and third graders especially thought these were hilarious!
During his presentation, Mr. Brown showed students a "book" he wrote and illustrated when he was six. Then he read his new book, Creepy Carrots (written by Aaron Reynolds), complete with sound effects.
